It’s another week of “Behind The Hip-Hop.”

Monie Love today features someone in the hip-hop world we all should know, Russell Simmons.

Simmons was born and raised in Queens, NY, after graduating he met Kurt Walker.

Walker encouraged Simmons to join in on the hip-hop movement and he never looked back.

In 1983 he co-founded Def Jam and it let him to co-producing the cult classic “Krush Groove.”

Through the years he started several businesses such as 360 Hip-Hop, Rush Communications, Phat Farm and more.

Russell is also active in several organizations and serves as the Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Slavery Memorial.

He continues to meditate and encourages many to live a healthy lifestyle.
