Back in the day this week in 1996, R. Kelly‘s debut studio album, “12 Play” was certified quintuple platinum. Unsurprisingly, this is the album that also certified R. Kelly’s position as the King of R&B. The album spent nine straight weeks on top of the R&B chart, and it reached spot number two on the Billboard 200.
