Congresswoman Maxine Waters is the U.S. Representative for California’s 43rd congressional district. She has served since 1991, and is the most senior of the black women who are currently serving in congress. In 1992, she famously bursted in, uninvited, into a meeting held by President George H.W. Bush in the aftermath of LA Riots, demanding to be heard on a matter which affected her district. Such bold and unapologetic heroism is what Waters has become known for.
