From the very first second of President Barack Obama‘s campaign, it was clear he would be battling against more than the usual scrutiny in the race for president back in 2008. And throughout his historic time in office as the nation’s first black president, Obama had to deal with even more blatant attempts to thwart his progress and productivity as president, which were very obviously motivated by racism.
A government shutdown, racist cartoons and veiled, coded language (as well as very blatant, un-coded language) from journalists, politicians and officials were just some of the things we know he had to deal with. Still, he never once spoke directly about those things- until now. Click on the audio player to hear what he had to say in this exclusive clip from the “Ed Lover Show.”
